Ultrasonic Facial in Kuala Lumpur
A flat metal spatula vibrating against damp skin, lifting what sits on the surface without scrubbing or acid. Quiet, tidy, and gentler than it sounds.
- No scrubbing, no acid
- About 60 minutes
What is the Ultrasonic Refinement, and who is it for?
The Ultrasonic Refinement uses a flat metal spatula that vibrates at high frequency while gliding over damp skin. The vibration lifts loose surface debris away without any scrubbing, granules or acid, and in the second half of the session the same spatula is used flat to press hydrating layers in. It suits skin that feels rough and looks dull, congestion around the nose, and anyone who reacts to acids and cannot use grainy scrubs.
It only works on damp skin, so your therapist keeps misting throughout — that is why the session sounds and feels wetter than most. The visible debris on the spatula is largely surface residue and moisture rather than anything dramatic; some studios make a show of it, and we would rather explain it than perform it.
IN THE ROOM
What your visit looks like
- 01
A quick look at what you use
Mainly to check for recent acids and retinoids, since the surface should not be refined twice in one week by two different methods.

- 02
Cleanse, then mist
A double cleanse, then the skin is kept damp with a fine mist. The spatula does nothing useful on dry skin, so the misting continues all the way through this step.

- 03
The spatula, section by section
Held at a shallow angle and drawn in short passes across forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. You will hear a faint high buzz and feel a light vibration — most guests say it tickles more than anything.
- More passes around the nose, fewer on thin or reactive areas

- 04
Turned over, to press layers in
The same spatula is used flat side down over a hydrating layer, pressing rather than lifting. This is the half of the session guests tend to remember as the nicest.

- 05
Mask, then sunscreen
A calming mask for ten minutes, then moisturiser and sunscreen. Freshly refined skin catches sun easily, so the sunscreen conversation happens before you leave.

Questions we hear most
No. There is a faint high buzz and a light vibration, and most guests describe it as ticklish rather than uncomfortable. If it feels scratchy, the skin has dried out and needs more mist — say so and your therapist will fix it in seconds.
There are no granules and nothing is rubbed against the skin. That is why it works for people who find scrubs leave them sore, and for skin that stings with acids — there is no chemical involved at all.
Mostly loose surface residue, product and the water we have been misting on. Some studios present it as proof of deep cleaning — it is not, and we would rather tell you plainly than put on a show.
Not in the same week. One refining method at a time, with a few days on either side. Pause exfoliating acids and retinoids for two days before your session and two days afterwards.
The smoothness is noticeable the same day. For skin that stays smoother between visits, most guests come every three to four weeks for two or three rounds and then judge whether to continue.
Better to leave it off that evening. There is no visible redness, but freshly refined skin is happier bare for a few hours — and make-up sits far better the next morning.
