Barrier Repair Facial for Over-Exfoliated Skin in Kuala Lumpur
For skin that has been asked to do too much — flaking at the nose, stinging under sunscreen, tight after every wash. This session takes things away rather than adding them.
- Nothing exfoliating, at any point
- About 60 minutes
What is the Barrier Repair Session, and who is it for?
The Barrier Repair Session is a comfort session for skin that has been over-worked: a minimal cleanse, a rich, simple mask, light pressure only, and a cushioning finish built from as few ingredients as possible. It suits skin that flakes around the nose and mouth, stings when sunscreen goes on, feels tight straight after washing, or has turned reactive after a run of strong actives, a peel, or a new routine adopted all at once.
The honest part: most of the work happens at home in the fortnight afterwards, by doing less. Your therapist will hand you a shorter routine than the one you arrived with, and that reduction is the point of the visit rather than an afterthought.
IN THE ROOM
What your visit looks like
- 01
The routine audit
We list everything currently going on your face, in order, morning and night. This usually takes ten minutes and usually finds two or three things that can come out.
- Bring photos of your shelf if carrying the bottles is awkward
- 02
A minimal cleanse
One gentle cleanse, lukewarm water, soft cloth. No second cleanse unless you arrived in make-up, because compromised skin does not need two rounds of anything.
- 03
A rich, simple mask
A thick, short-ingredient mask left on for twenty minutes. It is the longest quiet stretch of the session, and there is no massage over sore areas while it sits.
- 04
Cushioning, in few steps
Two products, not seven. A cushioning layer, then a mineral sunscreen — chosen for how little is in them rather than how much.
- 05
The shorter routine, written down
You leave with a fortnight's plan on paper: what to keep, what to shelve, and the order to bring things back in. Nothing on it needs to be bought from us.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
Questions we hear most
Stop every acid, scrub, retinoid and cleansing brush today, and drop to a gentle cleanser, one moisturiser and sunscreen. Do that before your session rather than after — it makes the visit far more useful, and often things settle before you even arrive.
It should not be. Everything used is chosen for how little it does. If any product stings on application, that is a signal for us to remove it and change direction — speak up the moment you feel it.
Usually two or three, spaced two to three weeks apart, while the home routine stays short. Skin that has been over-worked for months takes weeks rather than days to feel normal, and no session shortcuts that.
Once sunscreen stops stinging and the flaking has gone — usually two to three weeks. Bring it back twice a week before nightly, and never alongside an acid in the same fortnight.
No. The plan we write is mostly about using less of what you already own. If something genuinely needs replacing we will describe what to look for so you can buy it anywhere.
If the skin is broken, weeping or genuinely painful, please see a doctor first — that is outside what a studio should be handling. Once it is settled we are glad to see you and to build the routine back up slowly.
